Elderly Woman Escapes Injuries in Dog Attack in Marietta

An elderly woman, who was chased by a pair of pit bulls as she walked her dog outside her Marietta apartment building, was lucky enough to escape without any serious bites. The dogs are currently in the possession of Cobb County animal control officers.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the woman was walking her dog in the breezeway of her apartment complex when the two dogs began to chase her Jack Russell terrier. The woman tried to fight off the two dogs and in the process, sustained injuries to her nose and hands. The owner of the two dogs has handed them over to Cobb County animal control officers, and they are being tested for rabies. The owner will likely be cited for failure to control his animals, having a vicious animal and for failure to have current rabies vaccination.

Man Killed in Cobb County Motorcycle Accident

A Smyrna resident has been killed in a motorcycle accident involving another biker in Cobb County.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the victim Anthony Tyrone Anderson was riding his motorbike behind another motorcyclist, Ronald Bagley. Bagley signaled that he was making a left turn, but when he began turning, Anderson’s motorcycle crashed into his bike. Anderson’s motorcycle was thrown across the road into several utility poles. He suffered fatal injuries.

Cobb County Teacher Dies in Wrong-Way Accident

Before Friday’s tragic car accident, South Cobb High School teacher James Chapman was looking forward to a life of wedded bless.

Chapman was due to be married on the 4^th of July in Rome, and had been on his way to New Orleans to celebrate his upcoming nuptials. He was driving with his friend Keith. Both had just finished the last day of school at South Cobb High School where Chapman taught Social Studies and coached a baseball team. Chapman’s car collided head-on with a car driven by 74-year-old Homer Phillips in the southbound lane of Interstate 59. Phillips seems to have been driving the wrong way in a pickup truck, when he crashed into Chapman’s pickup. Phillip’s vehicle then hit another car which rolled over. Both Phillips and Chapman were killed at the scene.

According to police, Phillips was not under the influence of alcohol. They don’t know yet why he was driving the wrong way.

Student in Fatal Cobb County Drunk Driving Accident Intoxicated During Crash

The toxicology report of a Cobb County high school student who was killed in a car accident in January has confirmed that he had a blood alcohol level of .133 at the time of the crash.

16-year-old Garrett Reed was killed on January 24^th in a collision with another car. Reed had been drinking for several hours before the crash, and before he left his friend’s home in his car, he told him that he was drunk, but was able to drive. As the accident later proved, Reed had been in no condition to drive.

A week after the drunk driving accident, the mother of one of Reed’s classmates Kecia Evangela Whitfield was arrested on charges of providing alcohol to Reed and his friends. She is awaiting trial in April.
